So what is esports?
Esports, or competitive gaming, is where you compete either online or in real life against live opponents in a video-game, often for prizes but also prestige. You can test your skills against friends and strangers alike. Everyone can be a part of esports, and our goal is to help with that, because we are gamers, and gathering together to play games is what we love to do.
We are incredibly proud of our contribution to esports in our history. We were one of the first to run professional esports tournaments in the UK, and we are still here, pushing the boundaries of what can be achieved. In the early days we hosted tournaments on games such as Team Fortress Classic, Tribes and Unreal Tournament, and our community would form many smaller communities around each game where players would practice for weeks and weeks just to have a better chance to win against their peers.
These days the hot titles in esports include League of Legends, Counter Strike: Global Offensive, Dota 2 and more, which all feature both online and at our events as competitive esports tournaments.
Some of our crowning achievements to date include running the Call of Duty XP UK Qualifier on Xbox360 for the $1,000,000 finals in Los Angeles, hosting the Starcraft 2 IGN Pro League 4 UK Qualifiers with $20,000 in prize money and millions of global viewers, and our very own ESET UK Masters Starcraft 2 tournaments with over £20,000 in prize money given out at events and online to date.
